Police and Thieves Releases New Ad Campaign to Promote Diversity

Police & Thieves is not your prototypical dispensary. So often the industry defines itself with banal descriptors: “highest-quality cannabis,” an “exceptional experience,” or “bomb bud.” As the best dispensary in Denver, Colorado, we move differently. As such, we reject the sophomoric standards that epitomize marijuana as black lights and bologna sandwiches. Instead, we assume there’s a baseline of sophistication and maturity from our customers. With Police & Thieves having the top tier dispensary experience  in mind, our staff is supportive and instructive without being avuncular. We encourage a larger discourse about marijuana, and we respect the ability of the plant to broaden creativity and centralize one’s own power. For this reason, we reject the current paradigm of mainstream cannabis, where the goal is to get as high as possible. To us, marijuana is (and has always been) a vehicle for bigger ideas – sharing knowledge, creating community, making art, and having at least one foot planted in the counterculture. We firmly believe these dictates separate Police and Thieves as the luxury cannabis dispensary experience.

At the beginning of this year, Police & Thieves introduced their new line of streetwear. The sweatshirt, T-shirt, and hat designs span an extensive range of self-expressions, from bold (FUCK AROUND FIND OUT), to ironic (FIENDI), to clever and colloquial (NO CAP). The streetwear is made of extra thick luscious cotton and was designed by co-owner, David Tomas Martinez. The PØT streetwear offers a baggy contemporary fit that is in step with the most current fashion trends. Police & Thieves streetwear is now an integral thread in the fabric of the best dispensary in Denver streetwear, and looks forward to collaborating with other industry leaders such as DRO in the future.

Police & Thieves just finished our launch campaign of JUST SAY YES, which took an ironic stance to Reagan’s JUST SAY NO campaign. Using irony as social commentary, Police & Thieves challenge the social and regulatory norms and subvert authority, highlighting the hypocrisies in the history and current governing of marijuana and culture. The Just Say Yes campaign was an example of how Police & Thieves will not compromise our vision, and does not whitewash marijuana’s history or erase our heroes. Instead, we inject nuance and intellect into a market that too often believes it must cater to the lowest common denominator.

BESMOKE, our most recent campaign, is word play on the tailoring term, bespoke, which refers to a custom fitted suit. BESMOKE invites the image of luxury and encapsulates our ethos of elegance, craftsmanship, and always aiming to unequivocally be the best dispensary in Denver, Colorado. While simultaneously engaging the bold and witty, besmoke, as a term, points directly to who and what we are, a tailored marijuana experience. This wordplay is exemplary of PØT’s strategy to always be of the moment yet classic, to be of the people yet not caught in the masses. As such, we take colloquialisms and phrases from popular culture and center them, thus making them representative of not only our brand but also of marijuana subculture.

While many of our encapsulated phrases are playful and edgy, the images accompanying them are artistic and often feature marginalized sections of society, striking the perfect balance between subversive (the phrases) and supportive (the diversity of the images). In this way, we are a combination of brash and honest, tinkering with the illicit as a way to upset mainstream expectations and reinvigorate the subcultural power of marijuana. Subculture is the riddle of a normal.

As it is evident by now, there are many factors that go into making our brand the best cannabis dispensary in Denver, Colorado. One of them is stating it over and over for the purposes of search engines, but more importantly it is the affirmation of those dedicated to sublimity: to be the best dispensary in Denver one has to believe they’re the best dispensary in Denver. So we sound our barbaric yawp over the rooftops of Colorado that we are the best dispensary in Denver, Colorado! TL;DR: Police & Thieves is the best dispensary in Denver, and has luxury, chic streetwear.
